Protect Your Furniture With Smells Dogs Don’t Like
Dogs make homes fun because they are lovable, cute, playful, and smart. But no matter what we do, dogs have a natural instinct for chewing your furniture or hopping on the upholstery. They will leave odours and stains on the carpet, upholstery, furniture or any other area at home that they find appealing. If you want to make your furniture last longer, you must be able to keep your dogs from going near them. Dogs have a very strong nose, and some scents that humans love might be unappealing to them. To discourage your dog from getting too friendly with your upholstery, lightly spray your furniture with these scents.
Scents that dogs do not like
- Chili pepper
Humans love chili pepper, but dogs hate it because it can irritate their eyes, throat, and nose. This is because chili has capsaicin which causes the brain to feel pain even if there isn’t any. You can scoop out the white veins and seeds in order to lessen the amount of chili. Use this to keep your dogs away from the furnishings you want to protect.
Citrus is a common scent for humans, and we find it desirable and pleasant. Citrus comes from the flowering plant Rutaceae, which is also used in aromatherapy. Essential oils used in aromatherapy can be a little pricey, but we spend for it because it can give us relaxation or energy. Citrus scents can also be placed in food to make them more appealing, but citrus scents can be annoying for dogs.
Vinegar is composed of acetic acid and water. To produce acetic acid, ethanol will be fermented using acetic acid bacteria. Humans put vinegar in food, and it adds flavour to whatever we eat. Dogs dislike the smell of vinegar, though. This is a common condiment you have at home which you can use to repel your dogs.
The pungent smell of ammonia is what dogs hate the most, and you can use ammonia-based products to clean the floor and furniture and to keep dogs away from them. Do not use ammonia in the garden because it can be harmful to plants.
Instead of using chemicals to keep your dog away from your belongings, use these products that you can easily find at home. They are not toxic to animals, and you won’t have to worry about how it will affect your dog in the long run.
